Bolt Action and a bit of Battletech

So as I mentioned in the last blog post, I've got my US Infantry for Bolt Action organized as B Company, 2nd Battalion, 117th Infantry Regiment of the 30th Infantry Division.  It also has a supporting tank platoon from B Company, 743rd Tank Battalion which was also part of the 30th Infantry Division.  I've worked my Captain America conversion is as the Company Captain and then carried the theme throughout the organization.

The other hobby progress has been the arrival of a few more mechs for my Eridani Light Horse.  I got a couple Thunderbolts to use as the TDR-5SE that was unique to the ELH for use as a heavy scout mech.  I also got a Black Knight and a pair of unseen Ostrocs.
So that's what's been done this past week though I plan on doing some painting on the Bolt Action Americans this evening and then again tomorrow evening after work.  That's all for now and I'll see you all next week.

Bolt Action Updates

I want to apologize for the lack of posts the last while.  I've been helping open a new store with the company I work for and it's eaten up a lot more of my hobby time than I thought it would.  But we should be back on a more regular update schedule from here on out.

So with Bolt Action getting a bit more popular lately in the main group I game with, I've put some emphasis on my two Bolt Action armies.  First up is my Americans, which I've decided are part of the 117th Infantry Regiment of the 30th Infantry Division which was made up of Tennessee and North Carolina National Guard units that were activated into the Army for WW2.

I got all my US infantry primed a nice light olive green and then a wash layer over them.  Next up will be adding detail colors such as flesh tone, browns, and metals to skin, guns, and boots.  There are 33 Garand rifles, 5 Garand carbines, 6 BAR gunners, and a single SMG.

I also took a page from John's Toy Soldiers and picked up a pair of 1:50 scale Corgi Sherman tanks.  They're a bit larger than the Warlord tanks, so I'll be using them for late war US Shermans and then use the secondhand Warlord Sherman for an early war Sherman or perhaps even a Chaffee light tank.
Lastly for my Americans, I borrowed an idea that I saw a few weeks back which was a Captain America Hero Clix model converted to use for Bolt Action.  So I picked up a WW2 Captain America in the hybrid army outfit and Cap America costume.  I added an SMG, a backpack, and an SMG ammo pouch as well as the necessary base swap.

Now I couldn't do all this for my Americans and then ignore my British Paras.  So I took advantage of Warlord's Valentines for Valentine's Day sale and picked up a pair of Valentine Infantry Tanks to support my Paras.

Then to give them the same heroic officer type as my Americans, I found a Union Jack Hero Clix.  He got the mandatory base swap, exchanged the pistol for an SMG, and then picked up a backpack as well.

So that's all for now, but the updates should be on a more regular basis.  I'll see you all next time.
